The Easter Bowl in 2008 was the 40th anniversary
of this storied and unique junior event–and our second consecutive appearance
to observe the same.
Last year we covered the Easter Bowl AS a kind of
exploratory foray into the study of American junior tennis. The event basically
blew me away. I felt I’d discovered an amazing viewing window. The chance to
see the best 600 players in America
all at the same place at the same time in an environment unlike any junior
tournament I’d witnessed.

The old guys of golf are coming on strong and it is giving these old bones new hope…
My goodness, if you can’t get inspired about golf after the past couple of months you must be dead. Tiger plays in one tournament since the Masters (the U.S Open) and wins it with a fractured knee. And then, who is it that played him for 90 holes and took him to the last stroke on the last hole to seal the victory - a 45 year old journeyman named Rocco Mediate. Then we have a 47 year old Kenny Perry that has lit up the leader boards for the past two months with 3 victories and a 2nd place finish. And if you weren’t paying attention, Greg Norman, yes that same Greg Norman from 20 years ago, is leading the British Open by 2 strokes after 54 holes. What in the hell is going on here?
